As well as they are doing with LA right now, the return the flyers recieved for the pair is going to be GREAT for the future of the Flyers organization. They just need to get a few ducks in order and they will be money for the next few years at least.

It is really funny how this all worked out...if the Kings win this year (and I think they will) I'd say this summer's transaction, coupled with Columbus' involvement may go down as the most balanced exchange of players ever.

Philly gets -- Schenn, Simmonds, Voracek, Couturier
LA gets -- Richards, Carter
Columbus gets -- Johnson, 1st rounder

Columbus may be slightly behind on the return as that 1st rounder is going to 29th or 30th, but Johnson is better than Voracek and Couturier IMO.

Personally I would not trade Couturier for Johnson. I think Columbus blew these trades.

Yeah, the 19 year old kid that was used as a shut down center, killed penalties all year, managed 14 goals and 27 points as a rookie in a primarily defensive role and managed to hold the league's leading scorer pointless head to head in the playoffs isn't as good as Jack Johnson.

I do not like sounding as though I'm defending Howson but do you think trading Voracek, a 1st and 3rd for Carter was above market value? One could say he isn't worth that much but that's different from the established price. Carter for a 1st and Jack Johnson, when all managers knew the Jackets had to move him and his huge contract, is a reasonable return. CBJ had no leverage so to say they blew these trades might not be accurate.

This is similar to Burke trading for Kessel. At the time there was no way anyone could have predicted the Leafs would have been that terrible with the pick resulting in Seguin.

Don't forget the Flyers turned the 2nd round pick they got from LA into Nicklas Grossmann.

The return for Carter to the Kings wasn't where the CBJ blew it. That was good trade IMO. Dealing for Carter was a mistake in the first place. I like Jeff Carter, but trading for him to play with Nash never made any sense. The Flyers did get like with Couts falling to them.
